Continental School, late 19th/ early 20th century. "Eros", cast and patinated bronze, apparently unsigned. A finely modeled figure of Eros, the Greek god of love, as a cupid depicting the nude baby seated on a draped garden seat, his body twisted to one side with feet dangling as he strings a bow resting on ground to one side beside a fallen torch, the plump face framed by a corona of curled hair, with tiny feathered wings rising up from his back, the figure raised on a conforming gilt bronze base with twisted gadroon band to edge. Approximate height 17.5", width 12.5", depth 7".
