(American, 1864-1944) Grand Canal, Venice oil on canvas signed (lower center) 27 x 28 inches. Property from the Collection of Dr. Walter Garst, Miami, Florida General layer of surface dust and grime to the canvas. Heavy craquelure throughout. Scattered areas of mildew accumulation, as well as instances of blooming to the varnish. With two large repaired tears. Examination under UV light reveals a milky varnish that largely obscures evidence of repair or retouch, although two dark patches do fluoresce.
