Laura Coombs Hills (American, 1859-1952) Sixteen Drawings including Figure Sketches, Costume Designs, and Floral Studies Most signed "Laura Hills" l. r., some with stamped monogram "LCH" within a circle, three unsigned. Pencil, ink, and watercolor on paper, sizes to 17 1/2 x 11 3/4 in. (44.5 x 30.0 cm), unmatted, unframed. Condition: Some with toning, minor soiling, creases. Provenance: Through the estate of the artist. N.B. Subjects include fairies ("winged creatures"), mothers and children, pansies, and ivy. The costume studies are annotated with ideas for materials, fabrication, and accessories for the character.
