Proceedings of a Court of Enquiry, Held at the Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York, upon Captain James Barron of the United States Navy, in May, 1821. Washington City: Jacob Gideon, junior, 1822. First edition, octavo, untrimmed, stab sewn, water stains, wear, loss to pages, 9 1/2 x 6 in. Commodore Barron was put on trial following his service in the French navy. The court considered the charge that Barron had made derogatory statements about the U.S. Navy and government, and that he was absent from duty following his five-year suspension which occurred after he lost the Chesapeake to the Leopard .
