Eight Coin Silver Coffee Spoons, John David, Jr. , Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1795-99, made for the Cooch family, monogrammed, (one with damage, dents, wear), lg. 5 1/4 in., 4 troy oz. Note: John David Jr. worked in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1785 and 1795-99, according to published information. In 1794, he took over the shop of his father. John David, Jr. used the mark which appears on these spoons. Provenance: The initials on four of these spoons are those of Margaret Hollingsworth Cooch (1766-1833). All of the spoons descended in the family of the consignor.
