Conestoga Wagon Wrought Iron Fish-form Axe Holder, Pennsylvania, first-half 19th century, impressed detail with dark patina, lg. 8 1/4 in. Literature: A similar axe-head socket, from the Cincinnati Art Museum, is pictured in Robert Bishop's AMERICAN FOLK SCULPTURE, (New York, 1983), p. 129, fig. 219.
