Gorham Aesthetic Movement Tea and Coffee Service, Providence, 1880-1881, comprising a teapot, coffee pot, creamer, covered sugar bowl, waste bowl, and kettle on stand, tapered square form, with cast floral finials and branch-form ear handles with shaped ivory heat stoppers, each body with all-over embossed decoration of different flowers, on textured grounds, supported by four peg feet, with inscription to undersides, approx. 184 troy oz., ht. to 12 1/2 in. Provenance: Given by members of the John Nicholas Brown family of Providence, Rhode Island, to George W.R. Matteson, thence by descent to the present owner.
