George III Silver-gilt Urn, William Turton, London, 1781, of typical form, the waisted lid with cast urn finial and embossed acanthus bands, the molded rim above molded foliate and scroll and beaded bands, the body and stem with embossed acanthus leaves, on a circular foot supported by a square plinth with beaded edge, with inscription to sides, approx. 99 troy oz., ht. 21 1/2 in. Provenance: Given to Frank Matteson by John Nicholas Brown, February 21, 1925, thence by descent to the present owners.
