Margarett W. Sargent (American, 1892-1978) Portrait of a Woman in Yellow Signed and dated (in pencil) "Margarett Sargent 1928" l.r. Oil on canvas, 28 x 31 in. (71 x 78.5 cm), unframed. Condition: Scattered flaking and losses. N.B. Sargent was a Massachusetts painter of predominately portraits and figure studies and fourth cousin to noted artist John Singer Sargent. Margarett Sargent's work was recently included in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, exhibition A Studio of Her Own , Fall 2001.
