L. Adams to the family of Lewis Foster, three letters from 1862, six letters from 1864 from his hospital bed (Harwood Hospital, Washington and Chestnut Hill Hospital, Philadelphia), fourteen letters from 1864 to family members from various battlefields, twenty-two letters from 1865 mostly from Lewis to his mother and some to other family members, together with some original envelopes and a leather cap pouch.
