Chinese Export Porcelain Society of the Cincinnati Covered Bowl, late 18th century, polychrome and gilt decoration on the bowl, depicting the two eagle emblems of the society featuring Cincinnatus receiving his sword with encircling motto "OMNIA RELINQUIT SERVARE REMPUBLICAM," and Cincinnatus returning home surrounded by the inscription "SOCIETAS CINCINNATORUM INSTITUTA 1783," the initials L L inscribed below, floral sprig and border decoration in grisaille with gilt highlights, (repairs, chips, lacking handle), ht. 5, dia. 6 in.
