Attributed to the Monogrammist IHB (Flemish, 17th Century) Ceres and Putti/An Allegory of Harvest Unsigned. Oil on panel, 16 1/2 x 23 in. (40.6 x 58.4 cm), framed (under glass). Condition: Repaired/retouched splits to panel (stabilized with canvas affixed to the reverse), scattered retouch, losses and craquelure. Provenance: Descended within a private Massachusetts collection. N.B. The monogrammist IHB is credited with the authorship of a number of compositions derived from Jan Breughel the Elder. While the style of the foliage in this work is typical of his hand, the figures may have been painted by another.
