Day & Haghe, Lithographer (English, 19th Century) The Capture of the U. S. Frigate President by a British Squadron, under the Command of Commodore Hayes, off the Coast of America, January 1815. Drawn and lithographed by Samuel Walters, Great George Street, Liverpool from a sketch by Capt. William Skiddy. Identified by inscriptions in the matrix. Lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 25 x 18 in., in a molded giltwood frame. Condition: Margins of 3/4 in or more, toning, scuffs on margin. Note: A printed inscription in the margin reads "To Captain Henry Robinson, this print is respectively dedicated, by his sincere Friend Capt. Wm. Skiddy." Two printed articles regarding this print accompany this lot.
