Sister Mary Corita Kent (American, b. 1918) The Great Pumpkin, 1964, edition of 200. Signed and dated "Sister Mary Corita '64" in ink l.r., titled and annotated in ink l.l. Color woodcut on paper, sheet size 14 7/8 x 38 1/4 in. (37.8 x 97.2 cm), matted. Condition: Soiling. N.B. Sister Mary Corita Kent is perhaps best known (especially to Boston commuters) for her 1971 commission for the Boston Gas Company. Her decoration of a natural-gas tank beside the Southeast Expressway was an expression of her anti-war sentiment.
