S. S. Kaiserin Auguste Victoria, chromolithographic metal travel agent's sign, signed "Fred Pansing," depicting the liner in New York harbor, in wood frame with metal plaque "A Mammoth Hamburg-American Liner, Annual Cruises Around The World $650 And Up," 35 1/2 x 48 in. Note: A similar sign for the Imperator was sold at Skinner's Science and Technology auction, March 31, 2001, lot 255. The Auguste Victoria is famous for being the first liner used for cruises when, in the 1890's, she was taken off her North Atlantic route during the winter, to take passengers on Caribbean cruises.
