Two Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Blue Decoration, New York and New Jersey, mid-19th century, both two-gallon jars with wide mouth cylindrical forms, one with a stylized blue flower design with oval impressed maker's mark "A. E. SMITH & SONS MANUFACTURERS --88 PECK SLIP, N.Y.," the other with applied lug handles and stylized blue tulip design, impressed "UNION POTTERY NEWARK N.J. J.ZIPF PROP'R.," (hairlines on the first, handle and rim chips on the second), ht. 11 1/8, 12 in.
