Jerome George Rozen (American, 1895-1987) World War I Illustration. Signed "J Rozen" l.r. Oil on canvas, 25 x 22 in., framed. Condition: Two repaired tears, paint losses left margin, scattered retouch. Note: Jerome Rozen, the twin brother of illustrator George Rozen, became a well-known pulp illustrator. He served in Europe in World War I, and later enrolled in the Art Institute of Chicago where he became a teacher. He illustrated for Boy's Life, as early as 1927, and Battle Stories in 1928 and also did work for the Fawcett magazine, Excitement, a street publication that ran from 1930. He and his wife, Della Kretchmar, moved to the Bronx where he opened a studio and became a highly successful pulp artist and illustrator.
