Felt and Leather Massachusetts Officer's Militia Hat, first quarter, 19th century, the crescent-shaped hat covered in black felt with silk and metallic ribbon trim embossed leather cockade suspending a tin plated sheet iron eagle, a silver button depicting the Great Seal of Massachusetts is affixed below, the interior with leather hat band, accompanied by two loose sequined metallic tassels and a conforming wallpaper and Middlesex County newspaper covered wood hat box, (wear, minor losses), ht. 9 1/2, wd. 17 in.
