Federal Mahogany Inlaid Shelf Timepiece, Joshua Wilder, Hingham, Massachusetts, c. 1805-15, the hood with brass urn finial on a plinth with dart inlay and flanking fretwork above the deep cove molded plinth on flat molded cornice and scratch-beaded string inlaid glazed kidney door opening to a white painted iron dial embellished with gilt, inscribed "Joshua Wilder, Hingham" and eight-day brass weight-driven movement, with cove mid-molding on projecting base inlaid with contrasting stringing and bordered by crossbanding all on flaring feet joined by valanced skirt, old surface, (very minor imperfections), ht. 40, wd. 13, dp. 6 in. Provenance: Cornelius Moore, Newport, Rhode Island. Note: Handwritten label on seat board reads "cleaned and repaired by JJ Beals, 16 Hanover Street, Boston, March 25th, 1871."
