American School, first half 20th century. "View on the Palazzo Ducale, Venice", oil on canvas, indistinguishably signed lower right. Impressionist style painting depicts a scene across the Giudecca Canal in Venice, Italy with the gothic Palazzo Ducale, or Palace of the Doge, situated on the opposite bank with the domed cupola of Basilica San Marco rising up behind it, with many people in the piazza beside and several gondolas in the water in the foreground. Framed approximately 24.5" x 31.5", unframed approximately 21" x 28".
