French, early 20th century. Louis XV style stained fruitwood fauteuil or open armchair with arched cartouche shaped, padded back and scrolled arms with padded elbow rests over a serpentine seat with conforming scroll carved apron centered with foliage and rising on cabriole leg carved at the knee with trailing flowerheads and terminating in leafy carved scrolled toes. The back, seat and elbow rests covered in petitpoint tapestry depicting winged classical nymphs in a garden scene, the seat with mythological beasts centered with perched bird; secured with decorated nailhead trim. Height 38", width 23" (arm to arm), seat depth 21", seat height 15".
