Coin Rocker, possibly by Alex Bernstein, Berlin or Boston, c. 1880, with nickeled brass plate with gauges and slots for quarter and half-dollars, on red-painted cast iron base, wd. 6 in. Note: Bernstein is known to have made similar rockers in Germany before coming to Boston in 1880, where he worked as an electrical instrument maker before returning to Berlin. It seems probable that this example was made in Boston as the style of the base is very American and painted cast iron was rarely seen in Europe.
