Art Deco Aluminum Chess Set, designed by Victor F. Von Lossberg, manufactured by Edward F. Caldwell and Company Inc., New York, c. 1934, complete thirty-two piece set, silver and red finishes, figural player ht. 1 3/4-3 7/8 in., in original box with supporting paperwork. N.B. Born in Baltic Provinces Russia, Von Lossberg worked in metalwork and enamels. This set was exhibited at the Architectural League's 49th Annual Exhibition, held in New York from May 15 to June 2, 1934.
