Molded Copper Hamburg Rooster Weathervane, attributed to L. W. Cushing & Sons, Waltham, Massachusetts, late 19th century, flattened full body figure, verdigris patina with traces of gilt, including an iron pole, copper sphere, and parts of cast iron directionals, (minor dents), rooster ht. 28 1/2, lg. 29 1/4 in. Provenance: This weathervane was originally from the property of George C. Lunt of Greenfield, Massachusetts, a renowned silversmith who became treasurer, manager, and chief designer of Lunt Silversmiths, which was founded in 1882 and which succeeding generations operate to this day. Sometime during the 20th century, the property was sold to John Proven. In 1959, the weathervane was sold to the present owner's parents when the Provens moved to Illinois.
