George Wheatley (American, b. 1895). "On High Seas", oil on canvas, signed lower right "G.H. Wheatley". Painting depicts an enormous tall ship in the high seas with all sails at full mast as the ship takes a sharp turn to the right positioning the boat at a steep angle toward the left of the canvas, with blue skies over the scene bearing peach and white full clouds above calm deep blue waters capped in white. Pencil inscription to verso of stretcher with painting "At A Fast Clip" above artist's name. Framed approximately 28.5" x 33.625", unframed approximately 24" x 30.125".
