American Standard, United States Playing Card Co. , Russell and Morgan Factories, c. 1909, modified whist size, twelve color printing, depicting scene of neoclassical couple after the original painting "Flight from Pompeii," in glassine wrapper opened only at top edge, and in original slipcase, 52 complete, (near mint). Reference: Norwood no. 85, and Dawson, Encyclopedia of American Playing Cards U.S. no. 25. This very rare set is believed never to have been sold to the public.
