Lever-Operated Magician Automaton, circa 1890, with German bisque head impressed 2/o , closed mouth, painted eyes, molded blonde hair, papier-mache conical hat edged in gilt-paper, wood body with carved and painted lower limbs, paper-covered table and wood base, a lever at the back causing the figure to nod his head and uncover an object (missing) with a lifting and twisting motion of the right hand, in the original parti-colored clown's costume trimmed with lace and ruff, ht. 11 in.
