Brass Circumferentor by Thomas Blunt, the 3 3/4-inch silvered dial signed T. Blunt, Cornhill, London , with foliate-engraved cardinal points in eight-point rose, inset brass-capped vial, needle ring divided 0-360 , steel needle with clamp set from the side, rotating alidade with vernier and two slide-on sights, and brass socket mount, dia. 9 1/2 in. Thomas Blunt is listed as an optician and maker of mathematical instruments at 22 Cornhill from 1760-1822. He was succeeded in business by his son, also Thomas, who operated from the same address.
