"Maria" Slip Decorated Redware Dish, possibly made by George Wolfkiel, Bergen County, New Jersey, c. 1845, the large round shallow dish with a coggled rim decorated with a flourish of yellow slip inscribed with the name "Maria," (rim chips, slip losses), dia. 13 1/4 in. Provenance: By family descent then to the present owner in 1894. According to a label affixed to the reverse the plate "belonged to Anna Maria Hopper-Johnson, b. 1823."
