Whimsical French Gilt Metal, Glass and Faux Shagreen Carriage-form Jewelry Box, late 19th century, rectangular top with beveled and etched glass panel in gilt metal surround with anthemion to corners, body covered with tan faux shagreen, sides with further beveled glass "windows", ends with star-cut glass roundels, on four small wheels, hinged lid opening to fancy satin-lined interior, ht. 7, lg. 8 1/2 in. Provenance: Sold for the Benefit of the Brooklyn Museum.
