Musical Tinplate Snuff Box by Ducommun-Girod, No. 18014, playing Duo d'Arnold (G. Tell) and Luel Bonheur il Respire , the fine single-piece comb stamped Ducommun-Girod , in red tinplate case with transfer-decorated floral borders and lid scene depicting L'Auberge de Rigi Staffel , wd. 3 1/2 in. Note: Ord-Hume suggests that the tin cases of early tabatières were originally intended as packing boxes while the movement was in transit from the maker. The painted case of this movement is in exceptional original condition; there are no external controls to the movement, nor any evidence that they were originally fitted.
