Culpeper-type Microscope by Gabriel Davis, signed G. Davis, Leeds , polished brass, with early rackwork focusing (wheel replaced by a key), circular stage with sprung slide-holder and sprung clips on the underside, mounted on double scrolling supports to circular base with reflector on compass joint, ht. closed 10 1/2 in., with objective and eyepiece, in pyramidal mahogany case with drawer containing brass specimen holder, on gilt-brass ball feet. Note: Gabriel Davis is listed at two addresses in Boar Lane, Leeds, from 1822-1847.
