For, Fairport, N.Y. , with rack-and-pinion coarse focusing that engages a sprung worm gear via slotted wheel for fine focusing, circular black glass stage, plano / concave mirror on swing-arm with silvered scale calibrated 90-0-90° , on tapering brass pillar threaded to circular foot with nickel-plated ball supports, ht. closed 11 in., in fitted velvet-lined and gilt-tooled case containing two eyepieces, and B & L Optical Co. 1/4 and 3/4-inch brass objectives in marked canisters, (case leather worn overall and missing on lid). Note: Manufactured by Bausch & Lomb from an unusual design by Ezra H. Griffith, the foot of this microscope converted for use as a slide-preparation table.
