Hagger & Son, Makers, Baltimore , large fleur-de-lis at North, needle ring divided 0-90° in four quadrants, blued-steel needle with agate lifting hub, shaped limb with geared vernier operated from underside, outkeeper counter, two vials, socket mount, staff-adaptor and twin screw-on sights, one calibrated for measuring incline, ht. 10, lg. 15 in., in mahogany case with label of W. & L.E. Gurley , (brass with older polish, solder repairs to bezel, dial possibly cleaned and retouched). Note: Smart lists Benjamin K. Hagger and his son, John W. Hagger, as mathematical instrument makers in Baltimore between 1824 - 1838.
