Attributed to Mrs. Moses B. Russell (Clarissa Peters), ( Massachusetts, 1809-1854) Double Portrait Miniature of Nellie and Fanny Hall. Unsigned, the sitters identified in ink inscriptions on the reverse. Watercolor on ivory, c. 1840, 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 in., in a molded giltwood frame. Condition: Minute paint losses to a chin, a cheek, and in both girls' hair. Provenance: By family descent. Note: Inscriptions on the reverse indicate Nellie Hall and Fanny Hall were "sisters of William Henry Hall and were born at 154 Dorchester Ave., in South Boston about 1828."
