Auguste Delaherche (1857-1940) Stoneware pottery vase Paris, early 20th century Dark brown stoneware with stippled surface, interior of trimmed neck in turquoise drip, signed on base, ht. 8 3/4 in. Note: Considered one of the greatest ceramicist's since Bernard Palissy, Delaherche purportedly made no duplicates, fired his kiln but once a year, and destroyed every piece with which he was dissatisfied. His works were of dark red stoneware with roughened surfaces, stylized ornamentation, and sparkling polychrome glazes. author unknown
