Southwest Polychrome Carved Wood Katcina Doll, c. 1900, possibly Supai maiden, wearing a manta and holding a layered cardboard basketry plaque, with remnant cardboard feathered headdress, (broken pieces included, wood loss), ht. 13 in. Provenance: This doll, originally part of a collection owned by Grace Hatch Van Benschoten of Scottsdale, Arizona, and West Park New York, was acquired by its current owner Mary E. B. Ellison, also of West Park in the mid 1960s.
