Large Philadelphia bargello stitch pocketbook dated 1775 , inscribed John Pawling . Pawling was born on August 28, 1722 and grew up near the confluence of the Schuylkill River and Perkiomen Creek near Valley Forge. This area later became known as Pannepacker's? Mills, camp sight of Washington's army during the battle of Germantown. This pocketbook has descended directly in the family to the present owner, 5" h., 8 1/2" w.
