Commemorative Philadelphia Fireman Doll, Philadelphia, c. 1852, the doll with composition head with painted features, stuffed body, and kidskin hands, wearing a green painted cardboard hat with gilt lettering "INDEPENDENT," hand sewn clothing including a green wool jacket with brass buttons, dark green wool trousers, and a white cotton shirt, a black silk sash with gilt lettering "Committee of Arrangement Philadelphia Fire Dept. May 3, 1852.," is draped across his chest, and brown leather shoes on his feet, including stand, (wear, losses), ht. 25 in.
