Paper Cutwork Picture (Scherenschnitte), probably Pennsylvania, second quarter 19th century, the picture featuring a central urn issuing stylized flowers and foliage, flanked by a pair of billing birds and vines above a conjoined ring border, sight size 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in. , in a tiger maple frame. Provenance: Ex collection George Horace Lorimer Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, (1944 Parke-Bernet sale) and John Gordon, New York City. Exhibited: The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, By and for the People: American Folk Art From a Private Collection, October 3rd -November 14th 1976, retaining exhibition label.
