Embroidered Silk and Velvet Crazy Quilt, "Work of Phebe K. Alley. Age 75 1894," composed of nine large squares of multicolored pieced silk and velvet fabric segments, each outlined with contrasting embroidery, many segments ornamented with stitched motifs including stars, shoes, flowers, leaves, and geometric devices, one stitched with the maker's name, edged in black silk, pale blue polished woven cotton backing, 80 x 78 in. Provenance: Martin Seymour estate, St. Albans Vermont. one segment with deterioratin of fabric but unobtrusive.
