Sailor's Seashell Valentine, Barbados, late 19th century, sea shell mosaic composition depicting a central round reserve with a shellwork heart topped with a pink shell blossom, surrounded by fanciful shell borders, mounted in an octagonal glazed wood case, (some loose shell segments), 14 1/4 x 14 1/4 in. 166- some loose shell segments (which are retained in the box), small areas on three star points, shell losses to area above "HOME" about 2 x 3/4 in. in a crescent shape area, somewhat dented inward.
