Sailor's Seashell Valentine

Sailor's Seashell Valentine, Barbados, late 19th century, sea shell mosaic composition featuring an eight-point star with central round reserve with shellwork lettering "HOME AGAIN" with fanciful shell border, mounted in an octagonal glazed wood case, (some loose shell segments), 14 3/8 x 14 1/8 in. 171-some loose shell segments (which are retained in the box), in areas just to left of the heart; a few irregular shaped losses, approx. 1 1/2" x 3/4 and 1/2 in. dia., to two segments between star points, and a few small unobtrusive scattered losses.
