Papier-mache Milliner's Head, probably France, early 19th century, the bust-length model with painted facial features, hair, and dress neckline ornamented with a flower sprig, (minor cracks), ht. 15 in. Literature: This milliner's head is illustrated in American Country: FOLK ART. Created by Rebus, Inc., published by Time-Life Books, 1990, p. 157. Fair Condition- there are a few cracks across on the top of the head and the neck (which are the most noticeable) abrasion to nose tip area with losses to the gesso, also fine cracks in the gesso across face at eyes, chin, most don't go through to the interior, the surface is grungy with age.
