Two Small Hooked Greenfell Mats, Grenfell Labrador Industries, Newfoundland and Labrador, early 20th century, composed of bleached and dyed rayon and silk strips hooked onto a burlap backing, one round depicting a polar bear resting on an ice floe, the bear figure hooked with clipped wool yarn; and a rectangular mat with a howling wolf in the foreground, with crescent moon, cabin, and pine tree in the background, variegated blue border, (light stain on one, minor toning), polar bear dia. 9 7/8, wolf 14 1/2 x 10 3/8 in.
