Oil on canvas, 22 x 36 in. (55.9 x 91.4 cm), in a period frame. Condition: Craquelure, surface grime. N.B. American expatriate artist George Loring Brown produced many picturesque views of Italy over the course of his career. He was greatly inspired by the work of Claude Lorraine and thus nicknamed "Claude." After living in both the United States and Paris, Brown moved to Italy in 1839.
