Ten Edison Two-Minute Phonograph Cylinders of Vesta Tilley, in cartons. Note: Vesta Tilley (1864 - 1952), the stage name for Matlida Alice Powles, was an English male impersonator, who found fame in music halls on both sides of the Atlantic. The daughter of a comedy actor, Powles gave her first performance in male attire at the age of five, changing her name to Tilley when she was eleven. Well-known for her numerous comic roles and creations, she is also remembered for her recruitment efforts, which became part of Tilley's act during the height of her popularity in World War I.
