Lowry-Bower Telemeter, No. 125, by Lowry Mfg. Co., Boston , patd. 1887, 1892, and 1896, with two calibrated 5-inch brass discs divided 0-90º in four quadrants, fleur-de-lis and thirty-two points corresponding to the points of a marine compass, one fixed, the other with read-outs and carriage designed to slide longitudinally in groove between two scales calibrated 0-18 in., both with pivoting brass arms and corresponding scales, engraved U.S. Navy No. 13 , in mahogany case, lg. 28 in. Note: Patented by Ambrose Constantine Dunn of New York on May 5, 1896, pat. no. 559,689; the purpose of the Telemeter was to ascertain the distance of a stationary object or the course of a vessel from two points of observation.
