French Glass Marriage Globe, containing a display of wax and silk flowers, ribbons, crimson silk cushion and gilt-metal leaves surrounding a mirror, on oval ebonized base, under glass dome, ht. 15 1/2 in., (ribbons fragile). Note: Commemorative wedding globes, popular during the late 19th century, contained symbolic items such as mirrors and white roses that held a special significance for the bride and groom as mementoes (souvenirs in the truest sense) of their wedding day.
