Continental School, fourth quarter 19th century. "The Church Path" - 1886, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left "Am. H. Bach". Likely German School winter landscape painting depicting a snowy country path at center winding back toward a church in the distance whose steeple rises above neighboring buildings into the clouded sky, the path flanked to left by a small wooden cottage surrounded by tall, leafless trees, the right side of the path tall with snow drifts and with a rough hewn wooden fence lining the walkway. Framed approximately 21.5" x 25.75", unframed approximately 15.875" x 20.25".
